For those of you who live in the Central Florida area, I hope that you will join me on Wednesday, April 24 at Full Sail University in Winter Park for a free seminar – Getting Out of Debt: It’s like eating an elephant. The session is at 5:15PM in the Entertainment Business Auditorium.
This is the first in a series of three personal finance seminars the university is providing. Dates for the other seminars will be announced soon, and they will be on the importance of personal budgeting and how to get started in investing.
We decided to begin the series with a look at some simple strategies for plotting a course to reduce and eventually eliminate our debt, something that often seems like an insurmountable task. That’s why I always use the example of eating an elephant. Can it be done? Yes, but only if you take it one bite at a time.
Much of the material for the first session reinforces much of what I have often included in this blog. Creating a plan for eliminating debt and “unconscious spending” is the first step in building wealth and creating an investment portfolio that will grow over time and eventually provide a comfortable retirement. But, as with any undertaking, it all begins with taking the first step.
